IT for Education
It is hard to imagine a world without ICT. ICT skills and more general ICT competences are needed in almost all areas of modern society.
If they are to meet today's demands for the integration of ICT in education, teachers have to possess a wide range of ITC skills, but more importantly they have to possess the competences needed in order to make ICT an integral part of their own teaching and the learning of their students.
The Pedagogical ICT Licence is a comprehensive internationally accepted approach to the continued professional development of teachers in the pedagogical use of ICT in education. It has received support from the European Commission's eContent programme and has been adopted by a number of countries around the world.
The Pedagogical ICT Licence was developed in Denmark by UNI•C and a number of other organizations involved in teachers' training and continued professional development.
Originally developed for primary school teachers, the concept has subsequently been adapted to other areas of education such as upper secondary schools, teacher training colleges, centres offering Danish as a foreign language, and institutions responsible for health and social care training.
The course combines blended learning with team-based collaboration, and the content combines pedagogical knowledge of ICT integration with basic ICT-skills training. The Pedagogical ICT Licence offers teachers basic ICT-skills on a personal and a professional level by focusing on the pedagogical integration of ICT in the teaching practice.
